RE: everyone in the comments: Toby himself said it felt like an 8/10 to him, and he intended it to be a niche thing. If you enjoy the characters and worldbuilding, you’ll forgive it’s flaws (cause sure, the game does have flaws), but if you’re picky and don’t enjoy the writing (or start playing, all the while expecting to hate it…?), then you’ll probably hate it.

I now this game is good ( never played it ), but why does the fandom suck? My guess is they draw the MC get boned up the butt by skeletons, dogs, flowers, and tutorials.

I don’t understand why people love this game, and I’m okay with that.

Uh, I just wanted to reply this to someone who said they didn’t play the game because of the fandom, posing as a nice counter-example and all, but apparently they deleted their comment just a few minutes later. Oh, well. Comment section, have my two-sided view on this anyway:
Undertale is a game you should try if you like exploring, appreciate worldbuilding and character development and enjoy to read lot. The game thrives on it’s characters and is very dialogue-heavy. If you find you can’t sympathize with the characters or if you find them bland it’ll be a very boring, probably even annoying game to play. I love it to pieces because I got emotionally invested in the story, while a friend of mine stopped playing it half-way through, because they didn’t and also did not like to read or pay attention to details so much. You definitely need a bit of patience for this game. As with anything, it all depends on someone’s personal taste. The game is definitely not for everyone and it’s fine either way.
And obviously the more popular something is, the more people in it’s fandom will be idiots. No need to pay them any mind.
