The Trophy Show – Why MGS 5 The Phantom Pain is not my GOTY (Mad Max PS4 Giveaway)

MGS V is an awesome game but the story wasn’t as good the earlier game’s,
mainly MGS3 now that game was GOLD ! but i still love this and im trying to
platinum it , tho I gotta admit that the witcher 3 is by far the best game
that I’ve played in years! it’s the only the game that I’ve bought a season
pass for and for me that’s a big thing cuz im against season passes and
dlc’s , the story and gameplay was amazing and the soundtrack was
phenomenal, I can’t wait to hop on back and play it again when hearts of
stones is released.

Witcher 3 is GOTY for me!

I absolutely loved Until Dawn! it was my 44th platinum. As far as Game of
the year goes, so far my vote is for my 45th platinum, Witcher 3. I
borrowed it from a friend, never playing the others in the series, and
bought my own copy shortly after hording his for a couple days. the game
made me want to play the other ones and did not make me feel left out!

great game, not goty and i still dont have one, i hope i can put it on
starwars but im not sure

but its hard to say i mean the witcher 3 side quests are hella boring Mgs
side OPS are always fun to miss around them

It really is a very good game, but once you start doing the same missions
towards the end i can start to realize this game was rushed and incomplete.
This game deserves high ratings but not game of the year for something that
is not complete.

This HONEST opinion is a huge breath of fresh air. My buddy will tell me
it’s best thing of all time.No issues at all. He loves it all. Yet
everyone else I talk too, is honest enough to admit the issues.And normally
a gaming having minor issues would not big a deal. But since this game got
an overrated 10 across the board, it’s going to bring criticism.

Until Dawn was awesome. Yes short, but sometimes that Heavy Rain, or Tell
tale game style is nice. Straight forward, great visuals and acting,
really fun, jump scare moments. It was really well done production.

Currently most would be my game of the year, witcher 3 was just too long,
and blodborne’s frame rate was way lower than 15 and until dawn just felt
like a movie. Mgsv 1st until dawn second and witcher last.

how is until yawn better than mgs 5. Mgs does lack in story but the
curscenes are great. Plus the gameplay is just amazing.

My GOTY so far is definitely The Witcher 3! Amazing game.
I also loved Bloodborne, Hotline Miami 2, Until Dawn, Rocket League and
Arkham Knight

Mad Max has to be a contender for GOTY, almost the same game mechanics as
the awesome Shadow Of Mordor

Blame Konami, this game could’ve been perfect

If you want 8-10 hours then I have to smdh. Butfor me it’s a toss up
between MGS & Witcher. MGS let me down story wise but gameplay wise blew me
away. Witcher I had little expectations for & it is damn near perfect.

Your reason is very understandable. For me, Phantom Pain says game of the
year because of the gameplay and the Fox Engine graphics. I’m sure not
everybody would agree with me, and that’s fine.

i am getting this game Wednesday and it looks really cool.

[ spoiler alert ] I love MGS V and I still haven’t finished after the
disappointment of the the end of chapter 1! and I thought they are giving
us something worth it in the second chapter but as you said they have 14
hard difficulty missions from chapter 1.. that is not what I have been
waiting for..

Why MGSV IS my GOTY
– Story is complex and very deep with many metaphors and great performances
– Gameplay is super deep, the best in my opinion, just so much stuff to
play around with.
– Graphics, love the look of the FOX engine
– The whole Mother base part of the game, expanding and getting new
soldiers for the base
– Metal Gear Online (not released yet ofc)
– The ending, lots of opinions on this, but i want to compare it MGS2, you
can talk about theories and your thoughts about for hours.

Thanks for all your help on MGS…I’m hoping for Fall-out 4 to be
GOTY…Mad Max was a great game til I ran into a glitch that wouldn’t let
me get the last history relic,so I traded it in for MGS-V (thank god for
EBGames 9 day return policy with an Edge card)

My main problem with the game is that it is obviously not finished. The
first chapter was fine but the second chapter was pretty horrible
storywise. And because of that the game doesn’t really have a proper
ending, which is quite disappointing.

As of writing this on the 28th of September, my personal goty has to be the
witcher three. The amount of content, as well as the generosity and
coolness of the developers is unmatched by any other game this year, and
that content is not identical, every single mission is hand crafted with a
unique story line. The story in the bloody baron quest line alone was
better than some games released this year, and the fact that there will be
a 10 hour expansion pack AND a 20 hour expansion pack that ADDS A WHOLE NEW
ZONE! Is almost unheard of by other developers. Other contenders include
batman arkham knight, until dawn, bloodborne, and maybe no mans sky if it
comes out this year. I have never played a fallout game before so i do not
really know what to expect from the new one other than what is said, but
Bethesda seems to be taking the cd project red route of being badass
developers, which i like. Fallout 4 will probably be a contender, depends
on the amount of story in it (i am already sold on the gameplay) I am
extremely disappointed in mgs v, and i will probably get a lot of hate from
fanboys for this but mgs v is extremely lacking. The missions are fun, as
is the gameplay, but after some time it gets quite repetitive, most of the
missions having the same basic extract or eliminate the target scheme. And
worst of all, the story is rushed and uncompleted, and not on purpose by
Kojima. It is because of the feud that happened between him and Konami,
resulting in Kojima not being able to finish the game and story like he
wanted to.

THE single most irritating unbelievably annoying aspect of mgsv5 for me
…and I STILL can’t believe it every time I think of it is the complete
lack of AUDIO OPTIONS!!!!!! I mean wtf were they thinking!!! not everyone
wants to hear that intrusive shit they added for music every time I have to
engage the enemy…unbelievable mistake!! I always turn down the music in
shooters so I can really get into the different sounds of the weapons…but
NOOOO…not if konami has anything to say about it. Sorry for
rambling..just had to get that shit off my chest. Other than the repeated
missions..I loved the game

It’s getting up there for me, though I’m waiting to see how the online
Multiplayer mode experience will be. I gotta give it a chance since Grand
Theft Auto 5 did the same thing with it’s multiplayer coming later and
Heist added even further down the road.

MGSV is Amazing
the story kind of short and i agree about the quests it’s repetitive really
but i like that you have a lot of options to finish the mission!
that’s why i think mgsv is special in a lot of things
other than that its fantastic game.

GOTY for me is Bloodborne, closely followed by The Witcher 3.

Yeah, I like mgs5 but it really doesn’t do it for me. Too much repetitive
objectives. Say what you want about the Order 1886 but that is still my
GOTY so far. It was too short for some but is was an interesting story,
setting, and didn’t go on too long. I can’t wait for a sequel.

I wasn’t a big fan of the Witcher, I am huge MGS fan and TPP sure has it’s
short comings (story and missing content) but the gameplay is some of the
best I’ve ever played in any game, and the story that is there is very well
produced, so it’s my GOTY so far. Bloodborne and Arkham Knight are the
runner ups

not, and if they’re on order. I just put those games there because they are
definitely AAA, have a lot of content (from what we’ve seen from Hitman and
Fallout) and are promised to be decent. And last but not least is that you

Fanboys please stop praising Fallout 4. I know it’s going to be good but

First of all I just wanna say that it’s nice to see people with similar
opinions, both you and the comments. I feel that the game was REALLY good,
me being a hardcore metal gear fan and played all of them besides portable
ops. The game does a lot of things really well so you can’t say that it
isn’t good. I just feel like there are little things that keep this game
from being the best it could be. The main ops I felt could use variety but
in my opinion they were fine. Just as long as there are more variety in the
side ops like you said. There should also be more easter egg missions like
jamais vu and deja vu from GZ. I felt for sure there would be more missions
like that in the game.The cut ending, the events that lead up to it are
still in the game. This just makes it feel unfinished. There should be more
to do on mother base beside “interacting” with like 3 characters, in which
you can’t really do much. The Paz story was probably the best. You can also
collect diamonds and get their locations from interrogating soldiers on mb.
That isn’t enough though. I think If you could unlock a “VR” platform on
the base that would be cool. Then you would do missions like MGS2 substance
VR missions with unlockable characters like ocelot and GZ/Peace Walker
Miller etc. Plus there was no Solid Snake cameo! I felt for sure that he
would be in the game as well. It would be really cool to see what he looks
like on this engine at Eli’s age. I think I will post this on the MGS
forums for discussion. Sorry it’s so long…
