Who else remembers the crash racing game on the ps2 where you could just be crash without a car and explore

I’ve never played CTR, or any Crash racer. Which is surpising because Crash 1-3 was my jam back in the day. And I’m playing the remakes right now. You’d think I would have played CTR back on PS1. But nah, at that point Need for Speed and Test Drive was doing it for me. Then PS2 came along and I played Burnout and Grand Turismo. 360 came along and I played things like Burnout, Grid, and Forza. Even Xbox One, which I’m currently on, I mostly play Dirt and Forza, with a bit of Need for Speed thrown in.

I saw CTRNF and had to pre-order. I’ve actually wanted a modernized kart racer for Xbox. The closest I had was the backwards compatible Sonic All-Stars, which is a great game, but the online isn’t exactly active considering it’s a 360 game, and quite old at this point. I played it single player, but it got a bit boring playing alone.

The one thing I’m really hoping, is that CTRNF has skill based matchmaking, and maybe even a competitive mode with rank matchmaking. I can see the online being a nightmare for new players, playing against people that have played the PS1 game for years. If it doesn’t have proper matchmaking, where I can play with other new players, I can see myself avoiding online and just playing the adventure, or maybe just a private lobby with my brother.

I’m also really hoping Snaking isn’t a thing. Snaking is the entire reason I stopped playing Mario Kart online. You’d have 2/3 of the players grouped up fairly close, all racing normally, then you’d have the last couple people like 4 miles ahead because they’ve spent the entire race snaking back and forth. It just feels cheap and removes the whole spirit of the race. Imagine playing Forza or something, except only 4 people in the race get a permanent speed boost just because they’re wiggling their car a bit. It’s just dumb. I get the concept of boost, I get that it’s important, but it should be reserved for corners, items, and boost pads. It shouldn’t be something you can just do constantly for the entire race.

Amazing trailer! Hyper Spacway and Thunderstruck though! I really hope they add in the CNK bosses’ karts (aka the Intergalactic Champion Karts), I would die to play in one of those against Oxide’s hovercraft with it.
