Introduction
The Show is back. And if you have played any of the previous versions, you will know exactly what you’ll need to do. Gone this year is the normal home run related trophies that we have known and love and they have been replaced by individual specific player feats that match a game from the players 2013 season. While there are 2 online trophies, they are tied to the new community challenge mode and will take you no more than a few minutes to earn. This does not require an online pass. The trophies can be earned in any order.
Walkthrough
Step 1 – Complete all the trophies named after a specific player
There are 11 trophies named after a player and you need at least equal the stats shown in each of the descriptions. The best way to knock these out in an efficient manner is by placing all the players on the same time and editing each of their stats to the maximum as well as using the in game sliders to give you a further boost and playing exhibition games.
To move players to a single team, go to Roster Control from the options menu. This will allow you to switch between all the teams and then swapping out players on the team of your choice. You want each of the 11 players on the same team.
To edit their stats, you want to go to Create & Edit Player from the options menu. Here you can find your team and select of player in your starting lineup and increase all their attributes. and are used to switch teams. Increase all stats for them to the maximum.
The 11 players that you want to move onto a single team, along with their default team are as follows:
- Chris Davis – Orioles
- Miguel Cabrera – Tigers
- Mike Trout – Angels
- Felix Hernandez – Mariners
- Yu Darvish – Rangers
- Jose Altuve – Astros
- Craig Kimbrel – Braves
- David Wright – Mets
- Paul Goldschmidt – Diamondbacks
- Yasiel Puig – Dodgers
- Stephen Strasburg – Nationals
After you have moved them all onto a single team and edited all their stats, you’re now going to want to edit an opposing team. Pick your least favorite and edit all their starting position players and pitchers to have the minimum attributes. Editing the opposing pitchers is a good idea as well. You can change their pitch types and alter their velocity. I suggest picking three variations of the fastball/changup and making all their velocites equal. After you have done all of this editing, make sure you save the roster. You can save your current roster or slider settings in the Save menu under Data Utility.
If don’t want to edit rosters yourself, I uploaded a team that you can download from the roster vault under the Community. To access my team, go to the Vaults Menu from within the Community tab and browse rosters. The name of the team is PS4Trophies created by PS_4Trophies (me). The easiest way to find it is scroll over the owner column and hit to sort by owner and use and to change pages until you find me. You’ll want to play as the Yankees against the Orioles. Make sure to load it every time you start each play session.
The final thing to mention is that you want to adjust the in game sliders. This will give you a huge boost. You can adjust sliders before starting a game by going to User Settings under the Options Menu or you can do it anytime during the game by hitting pause and going to the Slider Menu under options.
Increase the following sliders to the maximum:
- Human Contact
- Human Power
- Human Timing
- Human Solid Hits
- Human Starter Stamina
- Human Pitcher Control
- Human Pitcher Consistency
- Baserunner Speed
- Baserunner Steal Ability
- Baserunner Steal Frequency
Decrease the following sliders to their minimum:
- CPU Contact
- CPU Power
- CPU Timing
- CPU Solid Hits
- CPU Pickoffs
- Fielder Run Speed
- Fielder Reaction
- Fielder Arm Strength
Now all you have to do is go play some exhibition games and try to equal their stats shown in the trophy descriptions. Refer to the trophy guide to see each requirement. You are not able to switch teams, save and exit, fast forward or use the player lock feature. Doing any of those will lock you out of being able to earn the trophies and you’ll have to exit the game and start over.
Note: These adjustments make the game considerably less fun, but we’re going after trophies. You will look to earn the following:
Chris “Crush” Davis
Miguel “MC Hammer” Cabrera
Mike “The Millville Meteor” Trout
“King” Felix Hernandez
Yu “Brother Dal” Darvish
Jose “Gigante” Altuve
Craig “Blitzcraig” Kimbrel
David “Captain America” Wright
Paul “America’s First Baseman” Goldschmidt
Yasiel “The Wild Horse” Puig
Stephen “The Soul Crusher” Strasburg
Step 2 – Get remaining miscellaneous offline trophies
At this point, there are a bunch of miscellaneous trophies, some of which you may have earned during the first step. The ones you most likely haven’t got are Fence Posts, Extra Win!, and Walk Off. You can combine Extra Win! and Walk Off during a single game if you’re the home team and win the game in extra innings and Fence Posts requires you to score a single run in each inning. Check the guide for tips on how to get any of the miscellaneous trophies. During this step, you will look out for the following trophies:
Walk Off
Grand Salami
Consistency
Back-to-Back
Frozen
Patience is a Virtue
Knock Out Punch
Extras Win!
Getting a Piece
Fence Posts
Step 3 – Create and complete a community challenge
Community challenges are found on the Game Mode Menu. Once there, select a challenge and simply complete it. Most of them are really easy and are just basically a situation that requires you to complete a single goal, such as getting a base hit, hitting a home run, etc. If you fail a challenge, you can replay it as often as you like. Some challenges require you to spend points, but others are free. Just find one that costs nothing.
Once you have completed one, all you’ll need to do is create one yourself. You can set it up however you like but just note that you will have to complete it yourself in order for you to be able to publish it. I’d suggest just keeping it simple and make a challenge that just simply requires you to get a hit. But that’s up to you. During this step, you will earn:
Breaking the Ice
Socialite
In any game mode, win a game on a walk off hit (excludes Community Challenge mode). Must be done in a full, uninterrupted, 9 inning game against a CPU team. Changing teams during the game or using the Quick Counts feature will invalidate this trophy. As the home team, get into a situation where you are tied or behind the away team in runs. In the bottom of the 9th inning, or an extra innings, take the lead over the opponent to unlock this trophy.
Grand Salami
In any game mode, hit a grand slam (excludes Community Challenge mode). Must be done in a full, uninterrupted, 9 inning game against a CPU team. Changing teams during the game or using the Quick Counts feature will invalidate this trophy.
When your team is up to at-bat, load up the bases with a runner on each base. After that use to take a power swing and reach for the fences.
To simply get bases hits, using the maxed out roster and sliders, you can bunt and get on base most of the time. Just make sure not to send the runner home before you get the bases loaded.
Consistency
In any game mode, strike out the side with the same out pitch, with the same pitcher (excludes Community Challenge mode). Must be done in a full, uninterrupted, 9 inning game against a CPU team. Changing teams during the game or using the Quick Counts feature will invalidate this trophy.
This is fairly easy. In any inning, when you get to a two-strike count take note of which pitch you’re using to strike out the batter. Make sure you use the same pitch to strike out the other batters for the remaining outs in the inning.
Back-To-Back
Hit back-to-back HRs in a game (excludes HRD, Practice, RTTS, and Community Challenge modes). Must be done in a full, uninterrupted, 9 inning game against a CPU team. Changing teams during the game or using the Quick Counts feature will invalidate this trophy.
This should come naturally while you’re going for the platinum. At anytime in the game, hit two consecutive home-runs. You can use to take a power swing but your timing must be perfect. Using a normal swing with can easily get a homerun as well with a larger timing window, especially when playing on Rookie difficulty.
Frozen
Strike out a batter looking in any game mode (excludes Practice and Community Challenge modes). Must be done in a full, uninterrupted, 9 inning game against a CPU team. Changing teams during the game or using the Quick Counts feature will invalidate this trophy.
This will likely be the first trophy you get and you should get it within your first couple of innings pitching. Anytime you get to an 0-2 count, you want to pitch the ball in the strike-zone and not have the batter swing.
If you’re having difficulty, try throwing a breaking pitch that goes from outside the strike-zone, and breaks into it.
Patience is a Virtue
In any single plate appearance, see 10 or more pitches. Must be done in a full, uninterrupted, 9 inning game against a CPU team. Changing teams during the game or using the Quick Counts feature will invalidate this trophy.
This trophy can be pesky, and as the title says patience is a virtue. Start off the at-bat by trying to work to a 3-2 count. Don’t swing until you’re at least a two strike count. You only need to take three balls, and foul four pitches off after getting two strikes. Use a contact swing by pressing and try to get very early timing, or very late timing on the pitch for a better chance at fouling it off.
Adjust these sliders to max:
- Human Foul Frequency
- Pitcher Consistency
- Pitcher Strike Frequency
Adjust these sliders to one or two notches:
- Human Contact
- Human Timing
- CPU Pitcher Control
Knock Out Punch
In any game mode, knock out the opponent’s starting pitcher before the end of the 3rd inning (excludes any All-Star game). Must be done in a full, uninterrupted, 9 inning game against a CPU team. Changing teams during the game or using the Quick Counts feature will invalidate this trophy.
As the batting team, score enough runs where the opposing manager removes the starting pitched before the end of the 3rd inning. This should come naturally in your game with all the player trophies.
There is also a slider, CPU Manager Hook, which increases how fast a manager will pull his pitcher from the game.
Extras Win!
In any game mode, win a game in extra innings (excludes Community Challenge mode). Must be done in a full, uninterrupted, 9 inning game against a CPU team. Changing teams during the game or using the Quick Counts feature will invalidate this trophy.
Get into a situation where you are tied after the 9th inning, and the game will go into extra innings. Take the lead in runs in the 10th inning, or any inning after that, to unlock this trophy.
If you are the home team, you can also unlock Walk Off while pursuing this trophy.
Getting a Piece
In any mode, excluding RTTS, play an entire 9 inning game without striking out. Must be done in a full, uninterrupted, 9 inning game against a CPU team. Changing teams during the game or using the Quick Counts feature will invalidate this trophy.
For this trophy, you’ll have to go a full game without your batters striking out. Using your maxed roster this shouldn’t be to difficult. Stay aggressive in early counts, but do your best to avoid swinging at balls for an unnecessary strike. Try to avoid getting into two-strike counts by putting the ball in play as soon as you can with each batter.
If you download my custom trophy roster from the roster vault and play against the Orioles as the Yankees, all the picthers on the team will throw 88 MPH balls that don’t break. You shouldn’t get fooled on anything and it’ll make it easier. Try to limit the number of at bats to as close to the minimum of 27. Sending 70 people to the plate in a slug-fest just gives you more chances to fail.
To download my team, go to the Vaults Menu from within the Community tab and browse rosters. The name of the team is PS4Trophies created by PS_4Trophies (me). The easiest way to find it is scroll over the owner column and hit to sort by owner and use and to change pages until you find me. You’ll want to play as the Yankees against the Orioles. Make sure to load it every time you start each play session.
Score a single run in every inning of a full 9 inning game (excludes RTTS and Community Challenge modes). Must be done in a full, uninterrupted, 9 inning game against a CPU team. Changing teams during the game or using the Quick Counts feature will invalidate this trophy. This is one of the most difficult trophies in the game, because you have to score just one run in every single inning. If you bring in two or more runs in a single inning, you’ll lock this trophy out for that one particular game. Play as the away team and the trophy will pop after the top of the 9th inning is over. Most of the time when you score more than one run is in result of a home-run with a runner on base. Turn down the Human Power slider during these at-bats to reduce the chance of driving in more than one runner. If you have a team with all their power numbers maxed, even with the power slider at minimum you will get home runs when you don’t want one. To make it easier, you can edit your individual players “Power vs L/R” to around 30 and when in game, reduce the power slider a tick or two from the bottom and when no one’s on base, increase it to max.
Also, if you are using my uploaded custom trophy roster, you can decrease the Fielding Error and Throwing Error sliders. This will cause the defense to drop or throw away a few sure outs. A Good strategy is to try to get the leadoff guy on with a double or triple, or steal 2nd if you only get a single, and then any base hit to the outfield will score your speedy runner or even a sacrifice fly to get your single run. I’ve hit several deep fly outs with a runner on second and was able to tag up from second and then score due to the outfielders throwing the ball away. After you score your one run, you can safely bunt or strike out to avoid scoring a second run.
See Getting a Piece for to learn how to download the custom roster.
Chris “Crush” Davis
In any game mode with Chris Davis, have a 2 home run, 5 RBI performance in a single game (excludes Community Challenge mode). Must be done in a full, uninterrupted, 9 inning game against a CPU team. Changing teams during the game or using the Quick Counts feature will invalidate this trophy.
Placing Davis in the 4th spot in the batting order is a good spot for racking up RBIs. Simply hit two home-runs throughout the game and keep swinging until you drive in the 5th RBI.
Like most player trophies, this can be done in extra innings. Play as the away team and keep batting around until you’re able to reach the requirements for Chris Davis. If you need more at-bats to get this trophy after 9 innings, let the home team tie the game by getting two outs, and then start intentionally walking batters by pressing + and get the final out without letting them score again.
Use a custom edited roster with max stats for all player trophies and all beneficial hitting sliders to max. SeeGetting a Piece if you just wish to download my ready to go custom trophy roster.
Miguel “MC Hammer” Cabrera
In any game mode with Miguel Cabrera, hit 3 home runs while having a perfect day at the plate in a single game (excludes Community Challenge mode). Must be done in a full, uninterrupted, 9 inning game against a CPU team. Changing teams during the game or using the Quick Counts feature will invalidate this trophy.
This one is probably the most difficult trophy in the game, because Cabrera can’t get one out (unless it’s a sacrifice). He must hit three home-runs, and have the same amount of at-bats and hits. So he must got 3-3, 4-4, 5-5…
I suggest playing as the away team and leading Cabrera off in the first batting position. If you don’t hit a home-run in your first at-bat, simply restart the game and try again. This will make it so that you just simply need two more home runs before creating an out.
After the third home-run, pinch-hit for Cabrera with somebody off the bench or make a defensive substitution while in the field. Get him out of your lineup as soon as possible. As long as he has the same amount of at-bats and hits, and three home-runs you won’t negate the trophy by bringing in another player. The trophy will pop once the game is complete.
Use a custom edited roster with max stats for all player trophies and all beneficial hitting sliders to max. SeeGetting a Piece if you just wish to download my ready to go custom trophy roster.
Mike “The Millville Meteor” Trout
In any game mode with Mike Trout, hit for the cycle and steal a base in a single game (excludes Community Challenge mode). Must be done in a full, uninterrupted, 9 inning game against a CPU team. Changing teams during the game or using the Quick Counts feature will invalidate this trophy.
With Mike Trout hit a single, double, triple, and home-run. During the single or double phase, make sure there is no runner in front of Trout so he can swipe a bag or do a double steal if 3rd base is open. Take a lead by pressing and then press to lock in a queue for him to steal when the pitcher starts his delivery. Using an edited player with make speed and hitting stats will make this easier.
Like most player trophies, this can be done in extra innings. Play as the away team and keep batting around until you’re able to reach the requirements for Mike Trout.
“King” Felix Hernandez
In any game mode with Felix Hernandez, allow no earned runs and strike out 9 while earning the win (excludes Community Challenge mode). Must be done in a full, uninterrupted, 9 inning game against a CPU team. Changing teams during the game or using the Quick Counts feature will invalidate this trophy.
This is fairly easy. You only need to strike out 9 opposing players in a game and don’t allow any earned runs. You can edit all of Hernandez’s pitching stats and you’ll breeze through the opposition.
See Stephen “The Soul Crusher” Strasburg for a good slider setup.
Yu “Brother Dal” Darvish
In any game mode with Yu Darvish, throw 7 complete innings, strike out 14 en route to the win (excludes Community Challenge mode). Must be done in a full, uninterrupted, 9 inning game against a CPU team. Changing teams during the game or using the Quick Counts feature will invalidate this trophy.
This will require you to strike out 14 batters and work at least 7 innings. Use an edited Darvish and you’ll cut down the opposing batters with plenty of easy. Put your pitching difficulty on Rookie.
See Stephen “The Soul Crusher” Strasburg for a good slider setup.
In any game mode with Jose Altuve, get 3 hits and steal 3 bases in a single game (excludes Community Challenge mode). Must be done in a full, uninterrupted, 9 inning game against a CPU team. Changing teams during the game or using the Quick Counts feature will invalidate this trophy. This is the easiest of the player trophies. Simply get Altuve on base with a hit and then swipe second and third base if they’re open. Stealing is done by hitting before the pitcher starts his windup. You can lead off with but if you have maxed speed and base stealing attributes and sliders in your favor, then extending your lead off won’t be necessary.Like most player trophies, this can be done in extra innings. Play as the away team and keep batting around until you’re able to reach the requirements for Jose Altuve. If you need more at-bats to get this trophy after 9 innings, let the home team tie the game by getting two outs, and then start intentionally walking batters by pressing + and get the final out without letting them score again.
Craig “Blitzcraig” Kimbrel
In any game mode with Craig Kimbrel, strike out 3 batters and earn the save in a single game (excludes Community Challenge mode). Must be done in a full, uninterrupted, 9 inning game against a CPU team. Changing teams during the game or using the Quick Counts feature will invalidate this trophy.
In a save situation (ahead by three or less runs to start the final inning OR the last three innings of a game where you have the lead regardless of how big it is), bring in Craig Kimbrel as your closer and strike out three batters to finish the game without blowing the lead. You can give up multiple hits or a runs, but make sure you stay in the lead. If a batter makes contact, try to limit him to a single base and continue striking batters out.
David “Captain America” Wright
In any game mode with David Wright, hit 2 doubles, a triple, and a home run in a single game (excludes Community Challenge mode). Must be done in a full, uninterrupted, 9 inning game against a CPU team. Changing teams during the game or using the Quick Counts feature will invalidate this trophy.
When hitting with Wright, always try to go for an extra base. If you hit a single to CF, try and stretch it out for a double. Or if a double falls between two outfielders, try and stretch out the play for a triple. If you end up getting thrown out going for the extra base, you’ll be awarded the last bag you successfully passed.
Like most player trophies, this can be done in extra innings. Play as the away team and keep batting around until you’re able to reach the requirements for David Wright. If you need more at-bats to get this trophy after 9 innings, let the home team tie the game by getting two outs, and then start intentionally walking batters by pressing + and get the final out without letting them score again.
Paul “America’s First Baseman” Goldschmidt
In any game mode with Paul Goldschmidt, collect 4 hits, drive in 4 RBI, and score 4 runs in a single game (excludes Community Challenge mode). Must be done in a full, uninterrupted, 9 inning game against a CPU team. Changing teams during the game or using the Quick Counts feature will invalidate this trophy.
I suggest placing Goldschmidt in the third spot in the batting order for this trophy. He’ll come up to bat often, and should have runners on base when he goes to hit. Good batters behind him will likely drive him in. Any combination of 4 hits that result in 4 runs and driving in 4 RBI will count.
Like most player trophies, this can be done in extra innings. Play as the away team and keep batting around until you’re able to reach the requirements for Paul Goldschmidt.
Yasiel “The Wild Horse” Puig
In any game mode with Yasiel Puig, hit a double, triple, and steal 2 bases in a single game (excludes Community Challenge mode). Must be done in a full, uninterrupted, 9 inning game against a CPU team. Changing teams during the game or using the Quick Counts feature will invalidate this trophy.
When you hit your double, make sure third base in front of you is open so you’re able to steal it by taking a lead with and then queuing a steal with . This trophy will likely need you to get on-base one more additional time so you can swipe a second bag.
Like most player trophies, this can be done in extra innings. Play as the away team and keep batting around until you’re able to reach the requirements for Yasiel Puig.
Stephen “The Soul Crusher” Strasburg
In any game mode with Stephen Strasburg, strike out 12 and allow no earned runs en route to the win (excludes Community Challenge mode). Must be done in a full, uninterrupted, 9 inning game against a CPU team. Changing teams during the game or using the Quick Counts feature will invalidate this trophy.
These pitcher trophies will take a few games and you’ll earn them by making the other team look silly by ringing up many strikeouts throughout the game.
Make sure your pitchers go at least the first five innings and don’t lose the lead so that they can get a win. Use a custom edited roster with max stats for all player trophies and all beneficial hitting sliders to max. See Getting a Piece if you just wish to download my ready to go custom trophy roster.
For the three pitcher trophies, use the following sliders:
Maxed out the following:
- Human Starting Pitcher Stamina.
- Human Pitcher Control
- Human Pitcher Consistency
- Human Strike Frequency
Reduce the following:
- CPU Contact
- CPU Power
- CPU Timing
- CPU Solid Hits
- CPU Foul Frequency
Breaking the Ice
Successfully create a Community Challenge.
Go to the Community Challenges menu from Game Modes and select Create a Challenge. It helps if you have played a couple already as you’ll have an idea of exactly on this works.
These are the steps required to create one:
- Select the two teams you wish to be part of the challenge
- Select Stadium – Time of Day, Cloud Cover
- Select Normal or Repeating (Repeating resets the situation after each play)
- Add Situation and then select outs or attempts.
- Select Inning, Score, Count and Outs along top of screen
- Add Runners and change pitcher and batter if you wish
- Pressing will back you out and from that screen you can add challenge goals (required) and disqualifiers as well as adjust sliders
- Navigate bottom menus with and to cost & reward if you want to adjust that or to prove & publish where you can add titles and descriptions.
- Before publishing a challenge, you will have to complete it yourself.
The process is fairly self explanatory and after you proved yourself you can publish the challenge for others to play. As soon as you publish it, the trophy will pop.
Socialite
Successfully complete another user’s posted Community Challenge.
Access the Community Challenge from the Game Modes Menu. Select Browse Challenges. From here, you will be presented a list of community created challenges. Some of them are lengthy but many of them are simple single situations. You can see the descriptions of each of them in the top right window and underneath that you can see the goals and disqualifiers.
To get the trophy, you will need to complete the goals and avoid the disqualifier. Also, beware that many of them require you to wager “Stubs”. If you can complete the challenge, you’ll be rewarded Stubs. If you don’t wish to wager Stubs, there are many that don’t require any to play. You earn Stubs from just playing games in any mode.
