Greetings to all my fans. PS4Trophies has been a one man operation since its conception and it’s been so much fun and now I want to work in collaboration with my fans. I am giving you PS4Trophies. Not literally, but I am creating a new series which I have yet to come up with a name for, but the working title is “FANfactory”. I am going to accept video submissions from you guys on videos you have recorded on PS4 or another capture device and I will select the best and feature it on PS4Trophies . You can be part of the channel and I’ll give back in return.
There are two ways types of videos that I’m looking do on the channel. The first is a full “fan” created trophy guide. I get many requests asking to make videos for some games that I just don’t own, or can’t do because it’s release date is the same as other games. When multiple games come out on the same day, I have to be selective on which games I do videos on. The decision on which games I choose is a simple process. First, can I at least recover the cost of the game through revenue earned through YouTube (it’s not as much as you think it would be). The second factor is how many videos can I make. That is based on the trophy list. So I am accepting video submissions for any type of guide in which I haven’t already covered.
The second type of video, and I expect this to be the majority of content submitted to me, I am going to do is a montage video of the best videos submitted. These can be epic online moments, epic fails, funny gaming moments, glitches, etc. I’m leaving it up to you guys. Whatever you feel is worth sharing. Record it, edit it, and share it. Funny videos will most likely get my attention quicker.
If I feature your video/clip on my channel, I will give you a shout out and promote your own YouTube channel and/or PSN name. You may want to submit something because you just truly want to be part of PS4Trophies or you may want to try promoting your own YouTube channel and try to gain a few more subscribers. Either way, I’m providing you an outlet to express your creativity.
So how does it work?
You need to create a video and send it to me. You just need to copy your clip from your PS4 to a USB storage device and then from your computer, email it to me (submit@PS4TrophiesGaming.com). You can do this with any clip you recorded with the Share Button without even editing in SHAREfactory. If you want to create something a little more dynamic, you can use the SHAREfactory video editor. This is not limited to people who capture gameplay on PS4 directly so if you have an external capture device, feel free to be part of this and if you already have something up on YouTube, you can submit that link as long as you give me permission to use it. No need to send me the RAW file if it’s already on your channel but please at least give me a heads up on which part of your video I should be looking at. You can submit more than one video.
If you want to submit a file larger than 35MB (size limit my email server will allow), you will need to host your video on a site such as Mediafire and provide me a download link.
What should you avoid?
There are a number of things that will make me automatically disregard a video.
- Avoid creating videos with voice over commentary.
- Don’t submit work that isn’t yours
- Do not add music to your video. I can’t upload any content with copyrighted music. This will get my YouTube video flagged by the robots at YouTube. Unless it’s entirely your own work, it won’t fly. In game audio only please. If you do have background music, submit it anyways, I may use the video with muted audio
- Don’t send anything from a system other than the PS4. I’m excluding the PS3 from this.
- Unless you’re making an actual trophy guide, avoid creating anything longer than 30 or 60 seconds. Most videos will be in montage form with brief clips from multiple people.
- If you decide to do a trophy guide, make sure I haven’t already done one. Also, don’t do one on a game that came out over a month ago. Keep it to a recent release
- Avoid making me sit through non interesting gameplay just to see the exciting part at the end. Trim the video to the relevant parts.
- Being disappointed if I don’t use your clip. Just because the clip doesn’t end up in a video on my channel, doesn’t mean I think it wasn’t good. It may not have fit the theme, or any number of reasons. It may be used months later as well. Remember, my videos were horrendous when I started out, so just keep at it if creating content is something you love doing.
- Don’t expect monetary compensation. Feel good that I recognized your work and promoted your channel, PSN, etc. If by some miracle a video you create that I uploaded to PS4Trophies goes viral, I will offer some monetary kickback. But the odds of that? For perspective, I only have 2 videos over a million views.
How to Submit a Video
Once you have a video you’d like me to consider, email it to me at submit@PS4TrophiesGaming.com. If the video is longer than 35MB, you will need to host your video on a site such as Mediafire and provide me a download link through the submit email. Do Not email anything other than submissions here. All other messages are deleted. Use the contact page to email other correspondence. Put the name of the game in the subject line.
In your email, if you would like the shout out, provide your YouTube channel name or PSN name or both. If you have a Twitter, feel free to include that as well. If you submit a trophy guide video, please indicate at which point the trophy actually would pop since the built in recorder doesn’t capture that and a quick basic description of how to earn it. I will record my own commentary, so if there’s anything I need to know, please let me know.
IMPORTANT – In your email, you must state that you give me permission to use the video. You still created it, so feel free to post it on your own YouTube channel, Facebook, etc.
Hopefully we can create something fun as a community. I want to thank anyone who does submit a video. I won’t be able to reply back with a thank you message or notify you in advance if I use your video, so just keep your eyes open on YouTube. I want to do this on a regular schedule, but at this point in time I don’t know what that’ll be. I’ll pick the same time and day a month, week, etc depending on how many submissions I get.
I look forward to seeing what people can come up with. This is untested waters, so I hope it works out. It will most likely take some time to build up a good following on this, but I believe we can do that together.
“These can be epic online moments, epic fails, funny gaming moments,”
You mean like placing the spawn beacon right next to the enemy base turret? =D
I’m going to get you back for that, lol. That was the cheapest death I’ve ever experienced. But until then, I need to dig through my files and find that video. I can’t believe I haven’t used that yet.
