For those that don’t understand the “why is there suddenly a black guy in LoTR lore” questions, I’ll give you this one example. If I were to play an Elder Scrolls game that takes place in Redguard, I would expect the overwhelming majority, if not all, of the characters to be black. So when I see a Nord, Khajiit, Elf or any other race I would be curious as to why they are there. It’s about lore, not race.

Before people start yelling, I’d like to point out that this is probably the game’s depiction of the fall of Minas Ithil in TA 2002. The Witch King and his army sacked the city and turned it into Minas Morgul. It’s still in the timeline of the books.

Amazing how the mere presence of a black Gondor Ranger is what’s gotten so many people in a tizzy about “fidelity to the LotR universe” on a game that has Caragors, Graugs and where the overall message is “murder, torture and mind-control is how you win the war against evil”.

Tolkien would be proud. I mean, remember that bit where Frodo tells Gandalf how “it’s a pity Bilbo didn’t kill Gollum when he had the chance”, to which Gandalf replied with a “oh yeah, totally. One should always be eager to deal out death and judgement at all times”.

Yes! I’ve been waiting! Shadow of Mordor was a sleeper hit for sure, but it was disappointing in many ways. It looks like this one takes place during The War of the Ring, so hopefully they capitalize on this!!!!

Lol the ONLY beings in middle earth described as black are the “black” half-trolls with white eyes and red tongues that have some representation among the Harad, who are supposed to be north african arabs which are described as swarthy. Sorry buds but there are not black people in Tolkien’s world.
