Spiders studio is back with The Technomancer, a sci-fi RPG for PlayStation 4 set on Mars during the War of Water, where an aspiring Technomancer faces a myriad of questions as his future grows threatened by the secrets of his past.

Technomancers are “mage-warriors”, who harness, thanks to an innate talent, destructive electrical-based powers, amplified by their cybernetic implants. Both respected and feared by all, they are fearsome warriors trained from a young age to fight. You are one of them, about to finally pass your initiation rite to become a fully-fledged Technomancer.

An RPG, The Technomancer will offer players action-oriented combat gameplay along four different skill trees, focusing on 3 different fighting styles and the destructive electric-focused powers of the Technomancers. But all situations aren’t necessarily to be dealt with brute strength, with dynamic conversation dialogue playing a deep role in quests, changing the story depending on the decisions you make. Craft equipment, weapons and armor for yourself and for the companions you’ll recruit along your adventure, nurturing relationships with them.

On the run from the Secret Police and confronted by the harsh realities of the Red Planet, you must undertake a quest that takes you through forgotten paradises, cities lost under the ice, and dystopian shanties sprawled across Mars’ dusty embrace.

Faced with the cruelty of Mars’ iron-fist enforcers and alien wild-life, can you survive long enough to uncover the truth behind The Technomancer?

I like how the demo was clearly designed for an Xbox One or PC so rather
than get it working on a PS4 they simply blur out the button prompts so you
can’t tell what the button prompts look like.

Sad to say, too, but when you land a hit in this game it doesn’t have the
impact that it should. He’s flipping around with a gun and dagger yet when
he slices with the dagger the enemy barely moves at all.

I really doubt this is actual PS4 footage…
From the blurred button prompts and the smooth framerate i’d assume it’s
the PC version. Would be very surprised if the PS4 version actually runs at
    60 fps.

I love Focus. They are the last mid-tier publisher around. They take a lot
of risks and the majority pay-off. I’ll certainly be playing this. Keep it
up Focus; You’re filling a void in the industry that needs to be filled. I
also love Spiders, the developer, Bound By Flame is a very underrated and
    brilliant game.

If this game is actually good I hope it gets the attention it deserves in
the media. It looks better than Bound by Flame, at least initially.

As much as I want great melee systems, I feel like it’s time for developers
to move away from the Monster Hunter dodge roll paradigm. Let Monster
Hunter have that and try something knew.

I don’t think blocking’s ever been done in combat beyond a timing minigame
(and I *know* parrying hasn’t been explored enough). Or just some new idea
    would be nice.

Shame that such a cool looking environment and interesting story premise is
being weighed down by overall generic looking gameplay and stiff character
animations. 8/ If you’re reading this devs, please take time to polish this
    game.
