The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Combat Challenges Walkthrough

These challenges should be played only after you have upgraded all your web slinging abilities. I’m not sure game difficulty makes a difference, but putting it on easy won’t hurt you or your chances to earn the Luchador trophy. In addition to earning the trophy, which in of itself is a great reward, you will be rewarded with a Spider-Man costume.

Challenge 1

Defeat all enemies.  The challenges all have multiple waves and you have just enough time to heal between each wave. Heal by pressing and holding down on the D-Pad. The key to this, and most challenges is to counter, counter and counter. If you see the indicator that the enemy is about to attack, press Triangle to counter. Try to score critical hits by chaining kills together and pressing the attack button right as you make contact.

Challenge 2

This is the same as challenge 1, but with a slightly higher degree of difficulty. During the final wave be very cautious of people shooting at you. Make anyone who shoots from the edge a priority by disarming them (L1)

Challenge 3

This requires you to less than 5 hits. There will only be a large number of melee attackers so the secret here is just to counter and punch. As long as you keep countering, you will be able to do this.

Challenge 4

The fourth challenge takes away your ability to heal.  You will encounter brutes in this challenge so make sure you hit them with a seismic blast and then pound on them. You will have two of them at a time, but as long as you hit both of them with the blast, you can go beat up on the one while the other will suffer the effects of the blast. The seismic blast is a nice tool to push away a group of enemies if you need some space to target a single one. Be aware of anyone shooting at you as well and disarm them as quickly as you can.

Challenge 5

After the previous two challenges, this one will feel much easier. There’s no special rules for this one. The only degree of challenge you may have is the 3 brutes during the final wave. Just clear out everyone else and then try to hit all 3 brutes with a single seismic blast and go to town on one of them…rinse and repeat until all three are dead.

Challenge 6

This requires you to survive without getting hit 7 times. This one will be the first challenge that you may feel a difficulty spike in. During the second wave you the most annoying of all the enemies will appear. This is the guy on the Goblin Hoverboard. He will sit from afar tossing grenades into the fray. He will always throw it where you are standing and you only have a couple seconds to get out of the way. Because of this, it’s a good idea to keep moving and try to target him as soon as possible, while not forgetting about the army of other people trying to hit you. Pull the guy from the hoverboard with L1 and try to beat on him for a few seconds. Be careful, because he will call in the hoverboard and that will be a projectile weapon heading your way. During the final wave, you will have to contend with 2 hoverboards. Using the seismic blast to clear the ground guys to give you a moment to pull the hoverboard guy down is a good idea.

Challenge 7

This simply requires you to defeat all enemies. The only additional challenge to this one is the quick moving speedy enemies. Use your web-pull (L1) to bring them close enough to you so you can beat them down.

Challenge 8

This expands on the previous challenge and adds more speedy enemies. Careful of the enemies shooting the lightning guns at you as not only will they drain your life, you will lose all web based abilities momentarily. The final wave will have two speedy enemies and a couple brutes at either end of the arena shooting guns.

Challenge 9

This is an unique challenge. This requires you to keep the leaders out of the zone. The zone is the circle in the middle and the leaders are the single armored enemy that comes with the mob. If the leader is in the zone and you are not, the circle will turn red and the meter will drain. As long as you are also in the zone, it’s fine that the armored leader is in there. On the outside of the zone are some enemies who will shoot you. You cannot go and kill them until after you have killed the leader. Using the Ionic web (circle if you have the upgrade – you shouldn’t be doing these without them) on the armor will destroy the armor. Once you are able to freely leave the zone, kill the shooters.

Challenge 10

In this challenge, you have to avoid getting shot 5 times. You can get hit by melee, but avoid gunfire. Enemies will shoot at you from the dark outer edges of the arena. Make sure you have the Weapon Jam upgrade and use web-pull (L1) to yank to guns from their hands and glue it to the ground. As long as you are conscious of the enemies shooting at you, this isn’t to difficult.

Challenge 11

The outer edge of this challenge arena has floating proximity bombs. You can shoot them with your web to disable them temporarily but if you get close to one it will detonate. You do have a second to get out of the way  once you have triggered its detonation and I personally found that if I was careful I could trigger it without getting hit. Beware, if you do get caught in its blast radius, it will do some serious damage to your health bar.

Challenge 12

This is a not-so-simple defeat all enemies type challenge. The degree of difficulty is that you have our friends “The Hoverboards” among many others on a playing field that an ever changing fire pattern on the floor. The fire will quickly drain your life so try your best to spend very little time in it. The fire can also slow your enemies down, so you can use that to your advantage if you need a few precious seconds to try to heal, or to web-pull the hoverboarder down to you with L1. Each wave will have a different pattern of fire. The first one is just simply a circle around you that doesn’t move. The second wave will have fire that moves from corner to corner. The third wave, will occupy a combination of two rows or columns. Careful of the bombs from the hoverboard guy during this phase. The final wave will have 4 or 5 different patterns of fire that it will rotate through but the enemies aren’t to tough during this section.
